"Women breaking traditional barriers and demonstrating their power through unity, as Poppy, Amy Lee, and Courtney LaPlante detail the formation of their cross-generational project, End Of You"
In an exciting turn of events, three powerhouse artists in the music industry have come together to create a powerful anthem that challenges norms and takes on the patriarchy. The song, titled "End Of You," features Amy Lee from Evanescence, Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox, and Poppy.
The collaboration was initially sparked by Poppy and Jordan Fish, the producer of Poppy's upcoming album, who shared the idea with the other artists. At the time, Amy Lee was also working with Jordan Fish on the collaboration with metal-loving pop star Halsey, the song "Hand That Feeds."
The central lyric of "End Of You" is "The end of you is the start of life for me", a poignant line penned by Poppy herself. The song was produced by Jordan Fish and Mike Stringer from Spiritbox, with Courtney LaPlante's vocals being the last layer added.
Interestingly, "End Of You" was first released by the Finnish heavy metal band Battle Beast on their album "Negative Spaces" before Amy Lee, Courtney LaPlante, and Poppy released their collaborative version.
While it's unclear whether "End Of You" will appear on Evanescence's upcoming album, the band is currently working on a new album, tentatively scheduled for 2026, and has already released the singles "Afterlife" and "Fight Like A Girl" this year.
Poppy and Spiritbox have crossed paths multiple times before, with their most recent collaboration being the performance of "Soft Spine" together at the US festival Louder Than Life last year.
Amy Lee expresses that the song is about taking on the patriarchy and challenging norms, while Poppy describes the message of "End Of You" as "universal" and "grounded in strength." In fact, Amy Lee wrote some of the lyrics for Poppy's parts in the song, and Poppy wrote some of the lyrics for Amy Lee's parts.
In addition to their musical collaboration, Poppy, Lee, and LaPlante have discussed potential collaborative projects beyond music, such as appearing on game shows together.
In June, Evanescence announced North American headline concerts for September, with Poppy serving as support for those dates. It remains to be seen if "End Of You" will be a part of these concerts.
As for now, no further music from the trio (Poppy, Lee, and LaPlante) is currently in the pipeline. Poppy's album "Negative Spaces" was released in November via Sumerian, and Spiritbox's second album "Tsunami Sea" dropped in March.
In a surprising turn of events, Courtney LaPlante was mistaken for Poppy during a red carpet interview at the Grammy Awards in February. Despite the mix-up, it's clear that each of these artists brings their unique talent and voice to the table, making their collaboration a powerful and unforgettable one.
