Headline: Lünen Offers Free Women's Self-Defense Course in 2025

The city of Lünen is offering a free women's self-defense course, set to begin on 22 September 2025. The Equal Opportunities Officer of Lünen is spearheading this initiative, which is open to all women aged 18 and above who reside in Lünen.

The course, a collaboration with the Kriminalkommissariat Kriminalprävention/Opferschutz of the Police Headquarters in Dortmund, will consist of ten two-hour sessions. These sessions will take place at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-Schule on Mondays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

During the course, participants will learn basic self-defense techniques, with instructors providing information on offender behavior, crime scenes, victim-offender relationships, self-defense tools, and the right to defend oneself. The instructors will also conduct exercises on confident body language, voice projection, and setting boundaries. Role-playing and video analysis will reinforce the concepts taught in the course.

Officers from the Kriminalkommissariat will discuss police work and when to seek help.
