Women's World Cup Australia Squad in 2025: Hunder, Player of the Tournament, to Make First Appearance in Competition

With the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup fast approaching, Cricket Australia has revealed its squad for the highly-anticipated tournament and the preceding ODI series against India.

The current champions, Australia, will begin their title defence against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore, with the World Cup commencing on October 23. The tournament will be hosted by India, marking a significant event for women's cricket.

The squad, led by the experienced Megan Schutt and Ellyse Perry, includes a mix of youth and experience. Notable inclusions are Darcie Brown, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Grace Harris, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Charli Knott, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, and Georgia Wareham.

Phoebe Litchfield, who has been in exceptional form, has been selected for both the World Cup and the ODI series. Litchfield, who made her debut in December 2022, is one of only two Full Member batters in women's T20Is to score at least 400 runs at a strike-rate of 140-plus since her debut. Litchfield's impressive run includes a Player of the Tournament performance in the 2025 Women's Hundred, where she scored 292 runs with an average of 41.71 and a strike-rate of 157.83. Litchfield also holds the record for the most fifties (8) by any Australian batter since her women's ODI debut.

Unfortunately, Heather Graham and Tess Flintoff, who are Cricket Australia-contracted players, have missed out on selection. The search results do not provide information on which player is temporarily replacing Sophie Molineux in the ODI series against India before the Women's World Cup 2025. However, it is known that Charli Knott has been included in the squad as backup for Molineux.

Sophie Molineux, who returned to the squad after undergoing knee surgery in January, is unlikely to play the three-match ODI series against India. Kate Beerworth, the Australia team physio, anticipates Molineux to be available for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup.

Tayla Vlaeminck, who was part of Australia's 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final run, has not recovered in time from shoulder surgery and was not selected for the squad.

Nicole Faltum has been included in the Australia squad for the upcoming series. Alyssa Healy, who made a successful return to action with 242 runs from three matches at an average of 121.00 and a strike rate of 126.70 for Australia A against India A last month, is not part of the World Cup squad but could potentially feature in the ODI series.

The 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup promises to be an exciting event, and with the Australian side in fine form, fans are eagerly awaiting the tournament's commencement.
