Dormagen, Germany - The Integration Council Chairperson, Mehmet Güneysu, has called on all eligible voters to participate in the election for Dormagen's Integration Council, scheduled for September 14.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must meet certain criteria. They must be at least 16 years old, have legal residence in Germany for at least one year, and have a principal residence in Dormagen for at least 16 days before the election.
This election is part of a series of elections taking place in North Rhine-Westphalia, including the Mayor, City Council, State Council, and District Council.
The Integration Council, a municipal representation of Dormagen residents with international family backgrounds, consists of 15 members: 10 directly elected and 5 appointed by the City Council. Its role is to give a voice to the concerns and interests of residents with international family backgrounds in a non-partisan manner, and to critically accompany the work of the City Council and administration.
Voting notifications will be sent by post by August 24. Those who have not received a voting notification by then can contact the election office at 02133 257 3290.
The election of the Integration Council is a chance for voters to make a difference in Dormagen. Various groups, such as the Freie, Liste der Vielfalt, Rûken - The German-Kurdish Association in Dormagen, the Afghan List, Rojnas Institution for Yazidi Solidarity, and the individual candidate Berthold Gericke, are among those running for the Integrationsratswahl on September 14.
The legitimacy of the Integration Council is emphasized to be strengthened by a high voter turnout. Registration for voting can be done until September 2.
