World Literature Encounters Osnabrück: Jewish Perspectives from Yesteryears and Today
The Jewish Cultural Festival in Osnabrück is set to return from September 4th to 7th, promising an enriching and inspiring four-day event for literature enthusiasts of all ages.
The festival, committed to promoting reading and inspiring young people for literature, will feature a diverse literary programme, showcasing works by renowned authors such as Leon de Winter, Assaf Gavron, Hella and Sandra Rottenberg, Mascha Kaleko, Rabea Edel, and Susanne Schädlich.
One of the festival's highlights will be the story told by Hella and Sandra Rottenberg about their grandfather Isay Rottenberg's cigar factories, taken away during the Nazi era. Volker Knickmeyer from Minden will supplement the reading with a local historical perspective on the expropriation.

Events dedicated to Anne Frank, who died 80 years ago in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, will take place throughout the festival. These include a picture book cinema for young readers featuring texts by Mascha Kaleko and workshops about Anne Frank and Peter van Pels.
In addition to these literary events, the festival will also feature musical ensembles like Sirba Octet and film screenings, but specific additional authors are not mentioned in the provided results.
On Sunday, September 7th, Rabea Edel's novel Portrait of My Mother with Ghosts will be presented at Felix-Nussbaum-Haus from 15-16.30 Uhr. Susanne Schädlich's book Kabarett of the Nameless will be discussed on the same day, from 13:45 - 14:45 at Literature Office West Lower Saxony, Ledenhof.
