World Police and Fire Games 2022: Court Officer Susanne Reink Earns Impressive Eight Medals in Birmingham, Including Four Gold, Two Silver, and Two Bronze

Susanne Reink, a dedicated customs officer from Hof, Germany, recently made headlines in the world of sports. After a brief hiatus from competitive swimming, Reink returned to the pool a few years ago and has since been making waves.

Reink's latest achievement came at this year's World Police and Fire Games, which took place in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The games, a large sporting event for police, firefighters, customs officers, and other emergency services personnel, saw thousands of participants from over 50 nations competing in more than 60 sports.

In the pool, Reink demonstrated her versatility, competing in various events such as the 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 400m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 3.2km open water at Oak State Park, women's freestyle and medley relays. Her hard work and dedication paid off, as she won a total of eight medals, including four gold, two silver, and two bronze.

The highlight of Reink's success came when she was part of the Polish team that won the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay at the 2024 European Police and Fire Games in Braga. The team, which also included three other Polish swimmers, brought home the gold.

For Reink, swimming is more than just a hobby. It serves as a balance to her office work at customs. She started her swimming journey at the tender age of six, joining a local swimming club and training with the performance group. Her mother, who took her to swimming lessons, probably had no idea that she was nurturing a future champion.

Reink's training regime is rigorous. She swims between 2.5 and 3.5 kilometers three times a week. During her high school years, she swam five times a week. The German team, which consisted of over 50 athletes, also prepared for the competitions with a "German evening" at the venue, adding a touch of home to their preparations.

Looking ahead, Reink is already setting her sights on the next World Police and Fire Games, which will take place in Perth, Australia in 2027. With her passion for swimming and her impressive track record, there's no doubt that she will continue to make waves in the world of sports.
