Writing Location Inquiry
In the realm of literature, finding inspiration and maintaining focus can often be a challenging endeavour. ARHuelsenbeck, a prolific writer, shares his strategies for staying creative and productive.
Currently, ARHuelsenbeck is immersed in two captivating projects: a Young Adult (YA) mystical fantasy and a Bible study guide. His writing space, a former bedroom transformed into a sanctuary, is equipped with a desk, dresser, bookcases, file cabinets, and a towering To-Be-Read (TBR) pile. Banker's boxes brimming with miscellany line the corners, a testament to his creative journey.
However, productivity at home can sometimes elude him, as distractions abound. To combat this, ARHuelsenbeck finds solace and focus at coffee shops, particularly when meeting with fellow writers. The hum of conversation and the aroma of fresh coffee seem to fuel his creative spirit.
But when the distractions at home become too much, ARHuelsenbeck seeks refuge at the library. Despite the allure of unread books, a coffee shop, and a Friends of the Library bookstore, he finds uninterrupted writing time there. Walking through the library's halls can even spark creativity, as he often ponders plot problems and brainstorms solutions while on the move.
ARHuelsenbeck's preferred writing locations have evolved over time, reflecting the context of his life and era. Moving, such as walking in the neighbourhood, can open up a creativity portal for him.
In addition to his written works, ARHuelsenbeck's artwork, photography, and quilts can be admired on Instagram. He also blogs about the arts and the creative process at ARHtistic License, inviting readers to share their own writing habits, locations, and methods in the comments.
As a former elementary general music teacher, ARHuelsenbeck brings a unique perspective to his writing. He has mystery and Middle Grade (MG) drafts waiting in the wings, and is even submitting a poetry chapbook.
You can follow ARHuelsenbeck on Twitter to keep up with his latest projects and insights into the creative process. His workroom is used daily from noon to 4 pm for writing-related tasks, a dedicated space for his artistic endeavours.
In this digital age, finding inspiration and focus can be a challenge. But with a little creativity and adaptability, as demonstrated by ARHuelsenbeck, it is possible to overcome those hurdles and create something truly remarkable.
