Wyoming theater group, WYO PLAY, to debut an original production: A Dinosaur Rock Musical titled 'A Jukebox Journey Through Time' set to premiere soon.
The Young Theatre Makers Ensemble, a WYO PLAY program, is set to participate in an exciting new production: "Dinosaur Rock Musical: A Jukebox Journey Through Time". This locally produced and written musical by Grace and Ian Cannon-Wallace promises a unique blend of music, dinosaur facts, and the magic of theater.
The show follows the story of siblings Ella and Thea as they face growing up challenges, all while embarking on a magical journey into a dinosaur-filled realm. The production's script, which premiered at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center, is brought to life under the music direction of Stephanie Neujahr.
The "Dinosaur Rock Musical: A Jukebox Journey Through Time" is not just a musical production; it's a celebration of dinosaurs, with the lyrics of popular songs from the 1960s to the 1980s, such as "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf, rewritten to honour these prehistoric creatures.
The performances will take place at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center on Sept. 6-7, with showtimes at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the 6th, and 2 p.m. on the 7th.
Before each show, there will be fossil displays, hands-on activities, and educational opportunities provided by the Natural History Museum of Wyoming at Sheridan College and Science Kids. This makes the event not only entertaining but also educational.
Tickets for the shows are priced at $9 for children 12 and younger, $12 for students, and $16 for adults. They can be easily purchased on the WYO Theater's website, wyotheater.com.
