Xbox Introduces Three New Controller Designs: Ice Breaker, Storm Breaker, and Heart Breaker Models
The Xbox team has recently unveiled a new lineup of special edition controllers, dubbed the "Breaker" series. This exciting announcement includes three unique designs: the Ice Breaker, Storm Breaker, and Heart Breaker controllers.
The Storm Breaker Xbox controller boasts a metallic D-pad and a black-and-white colour scheme, while the Ice Breaker controller is themed around snow and frozen seawater. On the other hand, the Heart Breaker controller showcases a splashy blue, pink, and purple design.
All these Breaker special edition controllers are built in the design of the regular Xbox Series X|S controller, ensuring a familiar feel for gamers. Interestingly, this year, Xbox Design Lab has also introduced two new controllers inspired by the upcoming Necrom chapter, which are expected to hit the shelves before the Breaker Special Editions launch on September 9, 2025.
The Xbox Design Lab is back open now, allowing players to customize their own unique Xbox controllers. In addition to the new Breaker controllers, the Xbox Design Lab is also getting several new options later this year, including refreshed versions of some previous limited edition Xbox controllers such as the DOOM: The Dark Ages and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 10th Anniversary controllers.
The Breaker special edition controllers are available for preorder now via the Microsoft Store at $80. However, if you're a fan of the DOOM and Witcher series, you might want to act fast as the Witcher 3 controllers sold out extremely fast and were difficult to find online just a few days after being announced.
The Breaker special edition controllers are compatible with Xbox One consoles and Windows PCs. The author of this article has already purchased the regular versions of the DOOM and Witcher controllers and is considering purchasing the Ice Breaker controller due to its translucent effects reminiscent of Gears 5 art direction.
