ISA World Games: Day Three Recap
The International Surfing Association (ISA) World Games are in full swing at the beaches of La Bocana and El Sunzal, with 61 countries represented. Here's a roundup of the action from day three.
In the men's competition, Kikas will compete in the fourth heat against Kian Martin (Sweden), Rafael Pereira (Venezuela), and Oliver Zietz (Netherlands). Meanwhile, Afonso Antunes finds himself in the repechage, facing Dong Zhiao (China), Sidy Camara (Senegal), and Robin Keating (Ireland) in the 16th heat.
Frederico Morais and Guilherme Ribeiro have secured their passage to the third round, with Ribeiro set to compete in the 10th heat against Tosh Talbot (Costa Rica), José López (Venezuela), and Lenni Jensen (Germany).
The women's competition saw some exciting performances. Rachel Aguero scored 6.47 points, while Yolanda Hopkins impressed with 11.27 points in her two best waves, beating Zoie Zietz, Enilda Alonso, and Mikela Castro. Hopkins will face Victoria Munoz, Eden Walla, and Julissa Garcia in the next round.
Teresinha will also be in the repechage, facing Dorothy Moody (El Salvador) in the 15th heat. The other two opponents for Teresinha have not been specified. In a standout performance, Francisca Veselko scored the highest score of the event so far with 16.74 points, surpassing Aelan Vaast, Imari Hearn, and Isidora Bulto. Veselko will face Alani Morse, Daniella Rosas, and Charlotte Mulley in the next round.
Notably, Daniella Rosas scored 10.17 points in the competition. Kiara Goold also had a strong showing with 9.57 points.
The men's competition will continue with heats not previously mentioned, and the number of competitors in the women's competition for the next rounds has not been specified. The ISA World Games continue until the 14th.
