The Harris Family Continues to Support the Little Princess Trust

The Harris family in Jersey is making a significant impact on the lives of children and young people in need, having donated their hair to the Little Princess Trust on multiple occasions. The latest member to join this charitable endeavour is six-year-old Ayla Harris.

Ayla, inspired by her mother Jo Harris, has been determined to donate her hair since the age of four. Following in the footsteps of her mother and older sister Adelyne, Ayla is growing her hair to meet the trust's preferred length of 12 inches. The exact date for Ayla's hair cut has not yet been decided, but the family hopes it will take place later this month.

Jo Harris, who donated her hair in front of customers and colleagues at her place of work in 2016, while pregnant with Adelyne, is considering a new hair donation in a year or so. Adelyne, who donated her hair in 2022, having been inspired by her mother, also plans to make a second donation.

The Harris family's generosity does not stop at hair donations. They have also raised funds for the Little Princess Trust not just online, but also through bake sales and Adelyne's plan to buy a Nutella cookie from her sister. Adelyne, who brought a copy of the Jersey Evening Post to school for show and tell after donating her hair, has also rallied friends, teachers, and family to donate to her fundraiser.

The Little Princess Trust creates wigs for children and young people who lose their hair due to cancer or other conditions like alopecia. The Harris family's donations, along with their fundraising efforts, are making a real difference in the lives of these children.

Adelyne, who had her haircut completed in approximately 20 minutes, despite the need to tie the hair into bubbles to keep it in shape, has plans to supply water to Africa when she is older. Ayla, on the other hand, plans to take a Little Princess Trust poster into school when term starts again.

The family also donates their clothes when their children outgrow them. Their commitment to giving back is truly commendable, and their story serves as an inspiration to us all. If you would like to support Ayla's hair donation, you can find a fundraiser for it on JustGiving.
