In the heart of Tempelhof, a vibrant urban gardening project has sprouted, transforming courtyard 1 of the former airport into a bustling oasis. This initiative, spearheaded by the "Fliegerwerkstatt" youth group, is a collaborative effort between the "Fliegerwerkstatt" project and Tempelhof Projekt GmbH.

The "Fliegerwerkstatt", operated by the Social Return Stiftung GmbH, provides a unique experience space for young people aged 12 to 25. Here, they can build, tinker, and design without the pressure of performance or tight guidelines, fostering a sense of creativity and freedom.

Under the guidance of the "Fliegerwerkstatt", the youth have designed and built the raised beds for growing vegetables and herbs. These beds are watered using rainwater, collected and stored in a tank provided by Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, further emphasizing the project's commitment to sustainability.

The produce grown within the facility is used in communal cooking, providing the youth with practical experiences related to nutrition and environmental awareness. This process strengthens the sense of responsibility of the young people and the community spirit, as they work together to cultivate and harvest their produce.

The urban gardening project now offers themes such as environmental awareness, nutrition, and sustainability, serving as an educational platform for the youth. By creating a direct connection between cultivation, harvesting, and nutrition, the project aims to educate and empower the next generation.

Building 43, where the project is based, was renovated by Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, receiving a new coat of paint. The renovation and collaboration with Tempelhof Projekt GmbH contribute to the upgrading of the area in Tempelhof, making it a more vibrant and welcoming space for the community.

This project is more than just a garden; it's a testament to the power of collaboration, education, and community spirit. It's a space where young people can learn, grow, and make a positive impact on their environment.
